You have a new website, now what?

Despite my best intentions and attempts at managing expectations, clients often ask why they can’t find their website on Google after their new site is launchd. The struggle is real and I hear you but it’s important to be realistic about the process between launching your site and understanding a few key things you can so to help get your site noticed.

  1. Make sure you have added SEO Titles and Descriptions. Also called meta-descriptions. There are the backend titles and descriptions that might show up in a Google search and are super helpful in letting Google know the key topic of each individual page.

  2. Index your site with Google Console and submit your sitemap.

  3. Update any social media by adding a link to your new site. Don’t forget professional listings or bios for professional organizations.

  4. Depending on the type of business, list your business to Google My Business, Yelp, White Pages and other relevant listings

  5. Create a QR code for easy sharing or use in external marketing.

  6. Promote your new site and announce it with an email marketing campaign or just a plain ol’ email to tell your friends, family and professional colleagues. Be sure to include a short blurb to encourage them to share the site or email with anyone else that might be interested.
