Bring The Party

I love this post by Marie Forleo. When I was a little girl my parents also enforced a nightly “party”. At that time it involved ice cream, a sweet or my favorite Santiba Ginger Ale in a champagne glass. It was a time we were all together and had nothing else to do but celebrate another day.

I always tell people I have forgotten how to “play”. Life does seem so serious at times — and rightly so — but seeing this video made me realize that I not only remembered but I excel!

I’ve been mostly alone for the past year during COVID - with the exception of my furry crew of course - and let me tell you it’s a lot of time for self-entertaining. Some days are more challenging than others but almost every single night i have a ritual that I turn on music or put on a record while making dinner and I dance it out. Having passed thru my ice cream phase into wine. the wine gets opened and poured and the candles get lit. The pets are into it as the energy shifts in the household with the exception of the cat’s obvious displeasure of my hiphop nights. He is not a fan but we agree to disagree.

Other ways I “play” are as simple as my signature high kick randomly targeted at a tree branch in Central Park. It’s an instant energy boost that always makes me smile.

As a busy entrepreneur, I encourage you to carve out that dose of silliness even if your silly is on the more serious side. All work and no play, well, you know what they say. Enjoy!
